Um, the band name?

Some have wondered why we chose this band name.  What do these super-hot creatures that turn into wicked monsters have to do with a family band?

Fair enough.

But in 2007, when we first making "Hogwarts Lullaby," this was the thought process:

What HP band names are left?
How about The Veelas?
*myspace search*
*google*
Yeah, that works.
Also, Malia has blonde hair, which is kinda freakish considering my Puerto Rican-ness.
And I can be really nice, and then be mean-mom and lay down the law.
Good.  Veelas it is.

And that's about it.

When will this album drop!?!

We had a very happy Christmas at our house :)  (Hope you did, too!).  We even got a new schmantzy keyboard for music-makin'.  But, it seems to not want to play with Garageband.  So, the question is, do we finish "Hogwarts Lullabies" in our sing-at-the-MacBook-way and just get it done already, or do we try to be a little more pro and delay even further?

People of the Inter-Webs!

We haven't posted in a bit.  Mostly busy with life and making music.  5 songs are done, and we want to finish two more.

The cover of the album is also done.  It's a pic of the kids "sleeping" and dreaming (get it?  Like, they fell asleep ... because if the lullabies?  The Hogwarts Lullabies?  Wait!  Does this mean that our music will put you to sleep?  Uh ...)

Anyway.  Weirdest photo shoot ever, I am sure.  I have to say, I am very proud of my Mac Paintbrush dragon as inspired by "Hyperbole and a Half."

Here it is:

JS4 Reactions ... but not ours

... because we still don't have our copy.

BUT
It was especially fun to hear (read) Matt of the Whomping Willows' reactions to each track.

To be honest, I'm really nervous about WrockSnob's reactions.  After all, we're no Whompy.  We are a Mom with a Mac and 3 kids under the age of 10.

Antici ......

The train and the mail

The Train
We went on the Christmas train today, which was absolutely lovely in the snow!  We got to chill a bit with S.Claus and had some delicioso hot cocoa.  Fun!  We felt very Hogwarts Express-ish, and made up a game:
"It's Christmas morning at Hogwarts, and I got ..." with answers following the alphabet.  Here's what we came up with:
A - Aragog
B - Boats
C - Crookshanks
D - Dementors
E - Elphias Doge
F - Firenze
G - George Weasley
H - Hufflepuffs
I - Invisibility cloak
J - Jelly slugs
K - Kwikspells
L - Lupin
M - Marauders Map
N - Norbert
O - Omnioculars
P - Padfoot
Q - Quibbler
R - Rememberall
S - Sirius
T - Timeturner
U - Umbridge
V - Voldemort
W - Whomping Willow
X - Xenophilius
Y - Yaxley
Z - Zonko's Joke Shop

The Mail
We've heard on Twitter that lots of people have gotten their Jingle Spells 4.  We're still waiting on our copies.  Ack!  The suspense!  What do you think of this year's selections?

DH1

We saw the movie - at the midnight premiere, naturally - and even brought the uke for the 2-hr. waiting-in-the-seats pre-funk.  We even got a few people to la-la-la with us.

Here are some of our thoughts.

ANYWAY ....

I LOVED Hermione's scene at home, Charity Burbage, the 7 Harrys, the fight in the cafe, Xenophilius, the super-rad art for the Three Brothers, the charms to hide the camp, the scenery, the elves, the acting by the adults who played the polyjuiced trio at the ministry, the sword and the silver doe scene, the high pitch whenever a horcrux was around, Bathilda Bagshot, Bellatrix's hair that drifted on to Hermione, Shell Cottage (so far), Dobby (of course), and the final scene at Dumbledore's tomb.

I HATED the lack of emotion for Hedwig and Moody, barely an elusion to Tonk's knocked-up status, the total lack of chemistry between Harry and Ginny, not enough wedding, not seeing the memorial with letters at Godric's Hollow, no Dean, no headstone for Dobby (here lies a free elf), Greyback not scary enough
